Homophobia is defined as an "irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals".
Who calls people that do not believe in homosexuality a homophobe? Well it is usually used by someone that is either a homosexual, a friend or a relative or a homosexual, or someone who knows of the stigma attached to calling someone a homosexual that they like to use it as an un-Godly attempt to discredit someone.
As a believer in Jesus Christ, I do not discriminate against the homosexual, I am simply opposed to his or her homosexual acts. While we are all sinners, many of us admit that we commit sins, there difference between people like me and the un-Godly homosexuals and their supporters is that we admit an act can be sinful while the un-Godly refuse to admit that homosexuality is wrong. I doubt if very many people would say that murder or theft, for examples, is alright. But that is exactly what the un-Godly say about homosexuality.
Many, like Freddy Lamar White, point to the Old Testament as being the source that homosexuality is contrary to the laws of God. Lev. 20:13 states that "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lies with a woman, both of them have
committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall
be upon them". But even if you want to take up the argument that the Old Testament requires us not to eat pork, which such dietary laws are not considered to be valid under Christianity, that doesn't get around the fact that the New Testament also condemns the act of homosexuality. (See: "IS HOMOSEXUALITY A SIN FOR NEW TESTAMENT BELIEVERS?").
Romans 1:24-27; I Timothy 1:10, Jude 7 and I Corinthians 6:9-11 are but some of the examples of homosexuality being denounced in the New Testament. (See: "Homosexuality: The Christian Perspective").
"Jewish, Christian, Sikh and Muslim cultures have generally perceived homosexual behaviour as sinful" and many Jewish and Christian leaders have gone to great lengths to make clear that it is the homosexual acts and not the homosexual individuals or their "orientation" that is condemned. (See: "Homosexuality and Religion"). The Dalai Lama, speaking on Buddhism, said that "From a Buddhist point of view, [gay sex] is generally considered sexual misconduct." (See: "Homosexuality and Buddhism").
So as a Christian who believes in God's laws, I proudly wear my writing against homosexuality as a badge of my faith. I will continue to do so, despite the name calling and writing about me on a couple of other local blogs, and continue to pray for those un-Godly and heathenistic people.
