Charles Smith, the veteran boys basketball coach at Peabody Magnet High School in Alexandria, recorded his 800th win Friday night against perennial rival Tioga High at Peabody's storied "Emerald Palace". (See: "Beads & Boos: Louisiana shows it cares by improving animal protection").
Smith is in his 27th season as head of the program, and in that time, the Warhorses have won 22 district championships, made 14 appearances in the Top 28 state tournament and won five state championships in seven title games. id.
