NEW ASSIGNMENTS FOR RAPIDES PARISH JUDGES

New assignments of judicial duties in ther 9th JDC were announced. (See: "Three judges switching responsibilities in Rapides Parish").

Judge Donald Johnson ("D.J.") will become the juvenile judge, and said that he "wasn't planning to run again in the next round of judicial elections in 2014". id.

"Judge John Davidson, elected in 2004 after Judge Ross Foote retired, is now hearing civil court matters after years of ruling on suspected criminals." id.

"Judge Patricia Koch, who in January 2006 took the bench overseeing juvenile court after the death of Judge B. Dexter Ryland, is one of two judges now dedicated to criminal matters." id. Judge Kock is the wife of Mike Kock an attorney with Neblett, Beard and Arsenault.

"According to Rapides Parish Clerk of Court numbers, there were 1,685 people suspected and charged with felonies from January 2011 through October 2011" and there were 1,901 lawsuits filed. id.

Judge Harry Randow will step down because he will reach the madatory retirement age and I hear that local attorney Greg Beard, the son of former Alexandria Police Chief Glen Beard, will run for that seat.
