  1. How does a new ceo get caught up in this? I thought he just started at CLECO.

Looks like CLECO off to a good start in 2012 like the mayor of alec. Doing something stupid.

  2. Greg,

As an attorney, how much of a problem is this for CLECO? If the buck stops with the ceo why would he expose his company like this?

This could have dire financial consequences for them on wall street if it get to the right people. The plaintiffs probably know who they are.

What a idiot. Glad I do not have any cleco stock. It will be worthless in a month at the rate they are going.

  3. CLECO is an unrepentant bully and will continue to be that until the regulators and/or courts punch them in the mouth. None of these CLECO executives could survive outside of their Ivory Tower. I propose the people take the fight to CLECO. Turn your thermostat up/down and starve the beast. Call your LPSC representative and give him/her an earful. This has got to stop!

  4. Are the rate payers and shareholders going to have o pay for this stupidity?

Last year CLECO said there was nothing to this lawsuit. They were laughing at the plaintiffs. I am starting to believe there is some truth to this complaint.

    This is a shame.

  5. Attorney Aymond,

I wish, we had kept the complusive sex addict David Eppler as our CEO.

Even though Eppler, would have sex with a "snake", if he could tie down the reptile, he is intelligent enough not to write a letter to threaten current and former employees.

    Williamson is an educated FOOL!

  6. Attorney Aymond,

I am first time commentator, a Cleco Corporation Stockholder, and a very concerned employee (over 20 years of loyal service)

    a) Why did't Cleco's General counsel, advise Mr. Williamson, not to correspond with those Black current and former employess (who can't accept a little "discrimination and retelation) (with a grin and a smile) as their other Brothas and Sistas have for the past 75 plus years at Cleco Corporation.

b)Does anyone have a copy of the letter written by Williamson?

c)If, Williamson did write a letter to those (Blacks) he should be FIRED immediatly!

    A concerned Cleco employee.

  7. Greg,

I was such a BIG fool! When I was asked to consider joining this litigation in 2009, I asked and followed the advise of one Mr. Jeff Hall (don't get involved).

"Their Attorney's can't match up with Cleco's (Their attorneys are trouble makers), "even though we know they are telling the truth"

Well, I was wrong and so was Mr. Hall.

Cleco Corp., has about as much chance of winning this litigation as the Chicago Cubs winning last year's world series. (oops the Cubs did not win again)

    I F**KED up!

  8. If, Wade A. Hoefling, Cleco Corporation's Senior Vice President General Counsel & Director - Regulatory Compliance, allowed Cleco's CEO Bruce Williamson to communicate directly with those plantiffs, he should be discharged and possibly disbarred.

  9. "I propose the people take the fight to CLECO."

What about Occupy CLECO? And where does Bruce Williamson live? Maybe someone needs to occupy his street. If 100,000 people can march on Jena, maybe a couple thousand could march on CLECO or Bruce's front lawn.

  10. The CEO has a real problem. He has all but said " yes they did it and it was in the past. i will bury you if you fight it.

Why would a CEO send a letter like that knowing his company is being monitored by the EEOC. if a complaint is filed with them it will result in a CLECO wide review of everything by the EEOC.

The board will have to take some action for they are now exposed.

Shareholders may want to get an attorney and file a claim of breach of contract and agreement. This can be found on the 8k statement or contact your shareholder services representative.

I am calling my financial advisor and have them review and advise me on what to do with my CLECO investments. I can't afford to lose any more money on them.

  11. I just heard CLECO'S BOARD is not to pleased with the way Mutt (Wade) and Jeff have handled this whole issue

At one time Jeff Hall was referred to as the "Godfather" to African Americans at CLECO.

i was also told Mike Madison is laughing his ass off over this blunder. It seams he his not the only one "stuck on stupid"

We (Power Plant Shift) are wondering who is the dumb ass *ol* who gave our CEO the false data!

He or she should be fired, not the CEO.

  15. I am a third year law student at the Stewart H. Smith Law Clinic and Center for Social Justice (Loyola University New Orleans)and a proud Conservative American.

Glen and Rush are my favorite commentators and FOX News is my go to place for obtaining the whole truth.

I say the above, however, if Cleco's CEO did indeed write aletter to those people of color, he and others in his administration should be removed of their responsibilities.

My mother is a current employee of Cleco Corporation and my uncle retired from there a few years ago.

I can only image that CLECO Corporation is NOT very pleased with their (NEW) CEO-Bruce Williamson at this time. He has placed CLECO in a very difficult position. First and foremost, he has given verification to what the plaintiffs have been saying from the beginning. Second, it proves that indeed CLECO is a “Bully” that intimidates their employees. The plaintiffs have a hard copy that justifies their cases. Third, CLECO removed those in high positions that could negatively affect the outcome of their case. However, now CLECO realizes that its replacement might have proven the plaintiffs’ case. This says a lot about CLECO, the company that many of us entrust our communities. CLECO’s hiring practices past and present say that we approve of the type of behavior, expressed by Williamson.

  17. ....this is utter stupidity - why would a supposedly educated man (i assume he is educated since he is CEO - the top spot at CLECO, but we all know what ass-u-ming can do)
I am no attorney but i know enough not to communicate with the plaintiffs (that is why they hired an attorney) I think THIS is a clear case of GROSS intimidation on the part of CLECO. I think this group is standing up for their rights, diginity & respect, i congratulate them. GOD BLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. While at a Christmas party, a friend asked if things had settled with Cleco's descrimination lawsuit in Louisiana. So I thought I would check to see if Cleco had done the right thing. Well it looks like they hadn't!!!!! Am I surprised? NO! I guess equality comes in only one color and obviously the young men listed above isn't that color! And for the TROLL who comments were:"(who can't accept a little "discrimination and retelation) (with a grin and a smile) as their other Brothas and Sistas have for the past 75 plus years at Cleco Corporation." Now that's just thinking with the wrong end of your head, or maybe thinking didn't play a part in the above comment. An educated person would know right from wrong, for this is truely wrong. Those young men or anyone of color shouldn't have to be exposed to this type of nonesense in this century. Blacks have fought and gave their lives for this country just as many others so everyone can be free and be treated with dignity and respect. Changing the CEO won't fix this! Noooo... Cleco needs to be the example to let the world know the way those young men were treated isn't acceptable anymore. We should be better than that and discourage descrimination and HARASSMENT against anyone! So pay up Cleco, learn from your mistake and try not to hire those "good old boys" that put you in this place of looking like idiots!!!!! OMG, just wash the nasty taste from your mouth, admit you were wrong then fix it! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

    AZ girl!

  19. Has anyone been able to confirm the letter was written by the CEO and what it actually contains? I heard Bruce Williamson sent Christmas letters/cards to many employees.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Word in the company is that he sent a letter to the plaintiff. He did not think it was offensive. It was not a Christmas card.

Be patient, Bruce will be sending a lot of post xmas letters/cards starting February 1, 2012. I hope you do not receive one.

  21. Don't crucify the entire company for the mistakes of a few. There are many, many good, honest, kind, hard-working people that work at Cleco.

That being said, if Williamson did it, he should be fired before the sun sets tomorrow.

I have to feel sorry for the poor CLECO employees. Williamson was roundly disliked at Dynegy, Duke, and really everywhere he’s been. I have yet to find someone that has many nice things to say about him.
