CITY OF PINEVILLE SENTENCED FOR POLLUTION

U.S. District Judge Dee Drell "today, Jan. 4, ordered the city of Pineville to pay a $15,000 fine, placed the city on one year unsupervised probation and told city officials to issue an apology for the 2008 release of hydraulic fluid into the Red River". "As a condition of probation, the city was ordered to put in place an environmental system to detect and prevent future violations, a complaint hotline for employees and regular employee training in federal, state and local environmental regulations,” the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality said in a news release." id.

“In addition, the city is required to publish an apology in The Alexandria Town Talk newspaper,” DEQ said." id.

“Today was an important step in that process, and we are ready to move forward and put this matter behind us,” Fields said." id.

Yes. I imagine that Pineville is ready to move forward from its mayor having run over and killed a woman while he had alcohol in his blood, its chief of staff's ethical findings on his business contracts and his unsuccessful attempts to keep his City e-mails away from the public, Pineville's crime, the two ex-City Councilmen who are currently facing criminal charges, and its City Engineer's ethical findings against his buying gifts for the Pineville Council.
