Besides the mayor's wife Wendy and Mr. Caplan, who gets the City's uniforms business, just about all of the rest of those present for the Jacques' speech were his paid staff. Of course Jacques' lap dog Councilmen were also present.
THE CLOWN TALK REPORT
The Clown Talk reporter, Bret McCormick wrote that Jacques goals for 2012 were:
- SPARC downtown stabilization and other growth areas.
- Energy planning.
- General infrastructure (including work force) planning.
- Partnering with the education, arts and cultural communities.
- "Rebranding and marketing this city as never before." (See: "Police changes in Alexandria top 2011 review, mayor says").
"The state of the city is sound," he (Mayor Jacques) said, "In fact, very sound, despite the national economy and despite the obstruction of some". id. The obstruction of some means we that follow the affairs of our City, such as City Councilmen Roosevelt
Johnson and Ed Larvadain, III, Councilwoman Mitzi Gibson, Sandra Bright, Gail
Underwood, Lew Howard, Von Jennings, Jules Green, Steve Coco, myself and the 77%
of the voters who didn't vote for Jacques. What Jacques and apparently Bret do not understand is that this so-called obstruction is actually democracy at work. There is no law that requires every elected official or voter to always agree with Jacques and agree with everything he does. We can also be in favor of Alexandria but not Mayor Jacques. Jacques Roy is not the same thing as the City of Alexandria.
Jacques also told Bret that "Alexandria is a leader in fiscal policy, not a follower".
Such as statement is rather astounding given the fact of our previous audit woes. (See: "THE
