WHAT IS A BLOG?
A blog has been described as:
"The term 'blog' is a blend of the terms 'web' and 'log,' leading to 'web log,' 'weblog,' and finally 'blog.' Authoring a blog, maintaining a blog or adding an article to an existing blog has been dubbed 'blogging.' Individual articles on a blog are called 'blog posts,' 'posts,' or 'entries.' A person who posts these entries is called a 'blogger.'" (See: "Blogs and Freedom of Speech").This blog is entirely written and maintained by me, Gregory R. Aymond. It is primarily a political blog, but every now and then posts will be included on history, science, animals and obituaries.
"While mainstream news organizations initially expressed doubt about the news value of online sources such as blogs, in recent months many have launched their own blogs, frequently maintained by some of their most distinctive voices." id. This is called Citizen Journalism. "Citizen journalism (also known as "public", "participatory", "democratic","guerrilla" or "street journalism") is the concept of members of the public "playing an active role in the process of collecting, reporting, analyzing and disseminating news and information." id.
COMMENTS AND THIS BLOG'S POLICIES
"When you’re commenting on another blog, you’re essentially a guest in their home." (See: "10 Ever So Helpful Lessons in Blog Comment Etiquette").
Act as if you would act with a group of friends sitting on a couch chatting and treat the host with respect and treat the guests with respect. id.
"If you find your comments are turning into a virtual free for all, feel free to create a comment policy and moderate offensive comments. id. It’s not censorship to want a civil blog and you wouldn’t let anyone call you or your friends abusive names in the real world and it’s fine to keep it in check in your blog. id.
Some other rules of proper comments are: No spamming; Don’t Make it All About You; Keep the Name Calling and Finger Pointing in Check; Brevity is a Talent; Keep it On Topic; Say Something Useful; and Name Calling is Not Disagreement. id.
As this blog's owner, I have the right to: (See: "Does Your Blog Have A Comments Policy?")
- Control over content and comments.
- Ability to edit comments.
- Ability to censor comments.
- Ability to delete comments. and,
- Ability to prevent comments by specific persons or groups.
So, as you can see, this is not a "free speech"log where you can comment how you wish.
Some other policies that I have set for this blog are:
- Make up a screen name. A screen name will assure that your comment gets published if all of the other policies are followed. Anonymous comments will be published only if I see fit.
- Identifying yourself allows us to know who you are, biases that you may have, and to see if you really know what your talking about.
- No foul language. Only I have that right to use such when I see fit.
- It is ok to disagree with my posts, as long as your comment is polite and contains facts to back up what you are writing.
- I may decide to allow your attack upon the character or fitness to hold one's job or political office, especially about Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana or Alexandria Mayor Jacques Roy. Keep it to a minimum though.
- Questions are welcomed, but read the entire post and the links under it so that you don't ask a question that has already been answered.
- No comments will be welcomed that criticize my writing style or my spelling.

Well well well, look like the mayor finally got hisself a council he can work with. they still got 4 of them on the council but this new one is young and he grew up out there in that village with all the rich negro's . Looks like he got better sense than to bite the hand that just fed him. He didn't waste anytime separating himself from those field types by voting for Silver for Council President. Makes you wonder why the mayor didn't pull off this coup earlier, he sure spooked that other one pretty good. He up and quit on the spot, probably half way to Nova Scotia by now and he a was a fancy lawyer type. We all knew he wouldn't last long, he beat the "OT" Original Tom Charles Smit for that seat in spite of questionable residency. Surprise he lasted as long as he did with the OT on the cut short stopping and the mayors personal family PI hot on his tail. Anywho's welcome aboard young man, stay in yo place you'll be just fine. Don't go round asking a whole bunch of questions, anything you need to know OT Charlie will fill you in when he drop off your mail. Make sure you keep all your recipes and maybe a crude diary might be in order. Expensive meals are illegal and so are suits, ties, tickets, cars and trips. Other than your one very decisive vote you are of no use to the developers who will soon be calling........
