Well now, Ms. Underwood wrote some comments yesterday to the Town Talk's stories on the downtown hotels. Ms. Underwood, commenting under the screen name "Councilwatch" wrote the following:
"councilwatch wrote:
Replying to copwatch1:
Roy is excited about spending more of our money on projects we can't afford and do not need. He is so ready to spend and expand but he is unable to manage what he is now in charge of. If he were paid on his work quality he would be chasing ambulances at night to scratch out a living. Less than a year to go, let's stand our ground and prevent this foolish spending until we can hire someone with common sense.GReat comment but sitting at the computer and at home and watching this unfold and not doing anything in public will not help at all. To all who want change come to the meetings and call the council members and write letters but showing up to them in open meetings is the best . we just lost one of the most outspoken person who never missed a meeting <>councilwatch wrote:
makes one wonder who is helping who..we do not need to destroy the city hall this is the stupidest thing and i bet someone is going to get kickbacks on this. would we lease the area at the hotel bentley? i thought oall the council members agree we do not need to be in the hotel business.we will be bankrupted in a few years at this rate of spending.///11/8/2009 5:57:25 PM" (See: "Frontrunner: Raze City Hall, and build a parking garage").
Then yesterday, City of Alexandria Mayoral Assistant Lamar White, Jr. sent Ms. Underwood this e-mail:
I must ask Lamar and the mayor several questions about these contacts that they had with Ms. Underwood.
Why did they contact Ms. Underwood and not anybody else? Do they think that they can influence what she thinks, says and writes?
I think that it is somewhat funny that the City would answer her questions, and only her questions, about the downtown hotels, and at the same time keeping the hotel information secret from us citizens.
We all know how forthcoming the administration is on answering my Cleco questions (which they haven't been) and how much they like bloggers.
P.S. See Lamar White's explanation, sort of, at CenLamar's "I’m Taking the Bait". As usual, Lamar failed to answer some of the concerns raised in this post.
