Well WeSawThat is up to his foolishness again. After a week of calling a politician, who happens to be a physician ,a quack, with absolutely no knowledge of his practice or patients, and calling another a criminal, WeSawThat today attacks the respected Ratcliff family, who has done more for Central Louisiana than WeSawThat has ever dreamed of doing.
WeSawThat, in his continuing efforts to report issues with little regard for the true facts, or fairness in attempting to get both sides to an issue, posted today a diatribe against Alexandria Historic Preservation Commission member Rob Ratcliff's purchase of a historic home on Monroe Street, in Alexandria, with plans to move it to an area just South. (See: WST's "citizens call for robert ratcliff to resign as a commissioner of the historic preservation commission for the city of alexandria").
The first factual inaccuracy is that the home was purchased by Rob Ratcliff, not his father Robert Ratcliff, who is the C.E.O. of Ratcliff Construction, unlike WeSawThat posted.
Next, Rob purchased this historic home, with the full knowledge of many members of the Historic Preservation Committee, who voiced no objections. He is moving the house because it sits on the land of another, and to better preserve it and avoid vandalism. He is having skilled craftsmen in charge of the home's move.
The woman, who is stirring the pot has opened up a single issue blog on the matter, called "Alexandria, Louisiana - My opinions", and who calls herself "perpetualrenovator", is even seeking to have Rob Ratcliff ousted off of the Committee. But a close look at her website sheds the light on her selfish motives for attacking Mr. Ratcliff. She resents having an empty lot nearby her own home.
Many historical structures are moved from one location to another to better preserve them, such as the Kent House and the Arna Bontemps African-American Museum. And another important point to remember, Rob Ratcliff purchased the house, therefore anyone who believes in the private ownership of property should realize that he has a right to move it anywhere he wants, and to his own land with the intentions of preserving that home.
If he has any notion of honesty, fairness and accuracy, WeSawThat owes an apology to Mr. Ratcliff.
